Space for Art artists
  • Beatriz Chamussy
(Mexico / France) is a visual artist and art therapist.
Her exploration begins through graphic design and illustration. In parallel, through Yoga, Butoh dance and Contact Improvisation dance, she has found a complementary way to access the creative process. Discovering in the body and movement a wide path of knowledge. In her drawings and paintings, Beatriz uses fine lines that in repetition create complex patterns, a kaleidoscopic world full of small connected stories. Her artworks have been exhibited in Mexico, France, Italy, the Netherlands, USA and Spain.

Beatriz studied Communication in Mexico and after working in different organisations in the social field, she came to Barcelona in 2010 to study the Master in Art Therapy at Pompeu Fabra University. Currently she works as a freelance graphic designer and she teaches Art at the Olive Tree School.

  • Anne Rooschüz
    (Germany) Artist
Anne’s background is theatre making and performing. She currently lectures at the art academy Düsseldorf, where she also coaches students.

Her work ranges from site specific performances to social-artistic projects. After graduating from de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam she co-founded the performance group Blood for Roses. Blood for Roses has made a series of critically acclaimed performances, all stemming from a documentary way of working: recording sound, registering (and later stylizing) everyday movements, and mixing professional actors and experts without acting experience, like a graveyard employee or a biologist.

Anne also loves sound. You will find out when you walk her soundwalk ‘Steenklank’ in Amsterdam – ‘sound of stone’, a soundwalk with architecture as a score. As we speak, she is developing a soundwalk for Sant Pere de Ribes in Barcelona, where she lives.

  • Sophie Lascelles
(UK) Artist and Creative Thinking Coach
Influenced by her childhood spent in a travelling theatre company Sophie Lascelles’s practice spans the genres of visual and performing arts, and film. Her installations are built up with multiple imagery, using slide and film projection within a space, responding to the narrative of the architecture. Using paper and objects juxtaposed with analogue machinery Sophie manipulates the projected surface to create environments reminiscent of theatrical stage sets, imbuing the space with a sense of mystery and ambiguity and allowing the viewer to construct their own stories.

Sophie is a British artist based in Barcelona. She has exhibited nationally and internationally including the galleries the Royal Academy of Arts, Bristol, Tate Britain and is a Jerwood Contemporary Painters prize-winner. She is represented by Danielle Arnaud contemporary art in London.

“My biggest passion in life is people, that's why I work with portraiture. This kind of photography has its own challenges and rewards, but it's the relationship between the photographer and the one who is photographed that holds a specific fascination for me. The process of searching for this relationship during a limited time period creates an opportunity for me to connect with the subject on a deep level, and this is what I love most about it. “
